Yesterday I got to check out Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse in cinemas. Today I am going to give you my honest (SPOILERS) review, for the this Spider-Verse story, that definitely could win an Oscar.

The film is illustrated and composed greatly. The art styles across the multiverses are drastically different and interesting. In Spider-Gwens world it is framed as a watercolour painting, but with Hobie Brown he looks like he has been out out of a magazine. The soundtrack and the score for the film is also great.

Miles's rivalry with the Spot and Miguel is much more convincing in the film than in the trailer. The Spot looked very clumsy, and I made numerous blog posts talking about what was happening with him. How they handled that in the film, made me feel much more intimidated by the Spot at the end of the film. I think making the Spot the scientist that was hit by the bagel in the first film is also hilarious.

With Miguel, in the trailers Miles wants to go home, but Miguel won't let him and Miguel just chases him. In the film, I did not expect Miles's spider to be from another universe, making him an (in the MCU a Nexus Being) anomaly. Also, with Miles interrupting a canon point, and wanting to interrupt a new one to save his dad in the film adds more reasons for Miguel to be mad at Miles.

Now talking about the Spider-People, Spider-Man India was easily my favourite Spider-Man in this film. His happy-go-lucky life style, and fast lively animation style is great. Spider-Punk is a character I didn't like at first, but he eventually grew on me, and now is my second favourite new Spider-Character.

The cameo Spider-People only show up for a few seconds, but I don't think that if they were apart of the story, it could work. LEGO Spider-Man showed up for a couple of seconds, and actually uses real LEGO pieces. Andrew and Tobey appear as live action reuses of there films.

My two favourite cameos in the film, Insomniac Spider-Man and Spectacular Spider-Man. Even giving them there own unique lines and art styles from there projects.

An actor who is reusing there lines is JK Simmons, who plays every version of J Jonah Jameson. Even the LEGO one, but that is a reused line from Spider-Man 2 (2004). Another non Spider-Man cameo is a live action Donald Glover as the Prowler, wherever this is the 19999 universe or not, it is cool to see that he got a speaking line.

Speaking of the Prowler, at the end of the film it is revealed that instead of Miles's universe 1610, the machine scans the DNA from the Spider that bit him, Universe 42, a universe where because the radioactive Spider went to 1610, it never had Spider-Man, and Miles is stuck in a universe where he is the Prowler.

Gwen then forms a team of the ordinal Spider-verse team from the original and Spider-Byte, Spider-India and Spider-Punk. Some people are mixed about the cliffhanger, and are a bit confused, but I think that is a great cliffhanger (especially when compared to Fast and Furious X).

Overall this film is the best film of this year so far, and the best animated film in recent years. My rating is a 10/10.
