Hello Everybody, today we are looking at two TV Show boots, and deciding which one will work the best. We are looking at the Harry Potter Reboot Series by Max and the Netflix Scott Pilgrim Anime show.
Scott Pilgrim was originally a set of six manga books which in 2010 turned into Scott Pilgrim: Vs the World, an amalgamation of the six, combining lots of different aspects into one two hour long film.
Harry Potter was originally a set of seven fiction books, which then got turned into eight films. The small details from the book were carefully implemented into the films (They had to make another film to fit in everything).
Scott Pilgrim, now is going to become an anime instead of one film, probably an hour per episode, telling the story of a book, per episode. There will be one exclusive season which will incorporate the 6 books into six hours of Netflix TV.
Harry Potter, which was eight films now is going to become a live action TV Show, probably an hour per episode, telling the story of one book, per SEASON. Seven, maybe eight books made into 41 hours of Max TV. That is double the time to watch all the films, spinoffs and documentaries and twenty times the original Scott Pilgrim film. This is going to feel way to boring.
This is why Scott Pilgrim reboot works. The film was a condensation of 6 books, and the Tv is a version that fits the size of the books. If it did get boring though, the anime aspects o the show will drive it away far from the original live action film.
This is why the Harry Potter Reboot doesn't work. The films are the length of the books (extension if you count the eighth film) and now the TV show wants to double it, extending it even further. I have a feeling some subplots are going to be awful if they are going with this length. Also, they already did live action Harry Potter.
There you go, this is why the reboot does not work.
